It was only a month ago that Microsoft Exchange server, still used by many organizations that have not migrated to the Cloud, was impacted by security vulnerabilities. There is a new set of issues and the announcement about it is all over the internet.

The vulnerabilities have quickly been patched by Microsoft, as shown in this article. The advice is simple: if you have on premise Microsoft Exchange Servers prioritize installing those patches.

With this particular set of issues, Microsoft was alerted to them by the NSA, which is unusual. Whilst there are no known active exploits, the US government (CISA) has gone further and says that servers should be patched by Friday 16th April, 2021, or disconnect them from the internet. The directive covers several government agencies but the guidance, it is hoped, will also be used by other agencies, local governments and critical infrastructure operations.

We hope that everyone with on-premise Exchange Servers heeds the advice being given at this time, and applies the patches quickly.
