While certainly not all projects are time-bound, most are. And in our experience, it’s for very good reasons. Often, customers prefer to migrate legacy data from antiquated platforms into the cloud at great speed reducing project timelines.

Why?

Business man trying to stop time. Man hanging on clock arrow isolated on gray office wall background. Time pressure passing past conceptWell, one reason is to realize return on investment (ROI) more quickly from their cloud investment. They employ the “if you’re paying for something – use it, now!” logic. Another reason is these legacy platforms are usually costly in terms of their ongoing vendor support fees, people-costs related to maintenance, and the required periodic upgrades to storage, servers, databases, operating systems, etc. The quicker an organization can decommission these older platforms, the faster they can reduce expenses and boost Microsoft 365 ROI. Lastly, the less time spent on a project allows staff to take on other initiatives and satisfy end-user requirements.

So, do it now, do it fast, and do it smart!

That’s where Cloudficient comes into the picture. One of our fundamental design principles when building our migration portfolio was crafting our pure cloud-based ReMAD platform to drive data movement and project governance. The ReMAD platform, which runs in the cloud, is based on Kubernetes orchestrated cloud microservices and provides truly unlimited migration scale while requiring organizations to provision near-zero on-premise resources for the project. So, instead of placing the responsibility of scaling out the architecture on our customers along with that associated cost, Cloudficient does all the heavy lifting.

As a result, and using Enterprise Vault as an example, we typically migrate anywhere from 2 to 5 TBs per EV vault data server per day. In a recent project for a global professional services firm, we were able to shorten project timelines by migrating +1PB (~1.5B items) within 90 days.

Of course, your mileage may vary, as migration velocity also depends on available network bandwidth and the health and wellbeing of your legacy archive platform. Since we don’t want our customer nor ourselves to experience any unwanted adventure, as covered in our Always Do A Proof Of Concept! Always! blog, we always offer a no-cost / no-commitment POC to all customers with funded projects. A POC will help uncover any issues related to migration velocity that we can address in advance of moving forward.

Additionally, and as covered in our Service Protection Throttling video, we’re able to provide unmatched migration speeds in the face of Microsoft’s Service Protection Throttling (SPT). Microsoft implemented SPT in December 2020 as a way of protecting a customer’s Office 365 tenant from data ingestion happening in another customer tenant. In one project, we noticed a reduction in migration speed from 1.2 TB to ~300 GB per day. Thankfully, our ReMAD platform design allowed us to configure more scale and we were able to increase migration velocity to 3.5 TB per day.

If you are looking for a solution that will require near-zero spend on resources, a fully managed fixed price services engagement run by vendor personnel and achieve migration velocity that will drastically reduce project timelines, spend, as well as allow your organization to realize Microsoft 365 ROI more quickly, we should be at the top of your list!

With unmatched next generation migration technology, Cloudficient is revolutionizing the way businesses retire legacy systems and transform their organization into the cloud. Our business constantly remains focused on client needs and creating product offerings that match them. We provide affordable services that are scalable, fast and seamless.
