Retiring a legacy journal archive with over 340 Tb in EMC SourceOne, is a substantial undertaking due to both its overall size and the length of time that the customer has been using the solution. Extracting the data into a future system will also certainly increase the overall size of the data footprint.

With a large volume of data to migrate it’s critical that it’s migrated as quickly as possible, otherwise the project would likely run for multiple years – something that this customer would find unacceptable. The 340 Tb of EMC SourceOne data became over 1.2 Petabytes of data when it was put back in its native format in Expireon. This was expected but further emphasised one of the main reasons that customer wanted to use Expireon - they don't want to have to migrate all data to a third-party cloud service because of the time and costs involved.
